Edgar Castillo
Edgar Castillo is a recently retired law enforcement officer after serving +26 years for a large Kansas City metropolitan agency. He also served in the United States Marine Corps for twelve years. Born in Guatemala, hunting was a new concept for him when he came to the United States. Neighbor Tom introduced Edgar and his father to waterfowl and eventually upland hunting. An ember had been lit.
Edgar longs for the colors of autumn, and wintry days afield in pursuit of an array of birds. He cherishes the feel of metal and wood in his hands, the sound of wingbeats exploding from underfoot, the lingering smell of gunpowder, the drifting of feathers in the air, and the heft of feathered game in his HUNT REDI vest. Those are the moments and memories he celebrates, when hunting the landscape.
His passion lies in the uplands as he self-documents his travels across public lands or wherever the dirt road takes him…ultimately it always leads Edgar to hunt open fields, walk treelines, & bust through plum thickets in search of wild birds in wild places.
These adventures and fervid emotion have allowed Edgar to become an outdoor writer for various magazines and outlets. His goal…to share experiences, knowledge, and stories by educating, entertaining, and inspiring others.
